Equipment

  • Mug

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon of virgin coconut oil
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of ground turmeric root
  • 1 ½ cups of unsweetened almond beverage
  • 1 ½ cups of light coconut cream
  • 1 whole cinnamon stick
  • 1 small pinch of freshly ground black pepper
  • Your choice of natural sweetener e.g., honey, maple syrup, stevia, or agave
  • ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 cardamom pod lightly crushed
  • ¼ teaspoon of dried ground ginger

Instructions

Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients

  • First things first, gather all of your ingredients. Lay them out on the counter and take a moment to appreciate the vibrant colors and aromas. This is part of the cooking fun.

Step 2: Melt the Coconut Oil

  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the virgin coconut oil. You want it just warm enough to liquefy but not so hot that it starts to smoke. Keep an eye on it!

Step 3: Mix in the Spices

  • Once the coconut oil has melted, add in ground turmeric, ginger, and the cinnamon stick. Stir these together in the oil. The heat will release spices' essential oils and flavors, creating a beautiful base.

Step 4: Pour the Liquids

  • Now, it's time for the real magic. Gradually pour in the unsweetened almond beverage and light coconut cream, whisking it all together. The wheels are in motion!

Step 5: Enhance Flavor with Sweetener and Extract

  • Add your choice of natural sweetener and a splash of vanilla extract. Taste it. You want a heavenly balance of sweet and spiced.

Step 6: Finish with Spices

  • Now for one last touch, toss in the crushed cardamom pod and a pinch of black pepper. The black pepper helps the body absorb curcumin in turmeric, increasing its effectiveness.

Step 7: Heat Through

  • Allow the mixture to heat gently for about 5–7 minutes without boiling. This lets all the flavors meld together beautifully.

Step 8: Strain (Optional)

  • If you’re not a fan of the spices floating around, you can strain it through a fine sieve into your favorite mug.

Step 9: Serve & Enjoy

  • Pour into your favorite mug and savor every sip. You can sprinkle a bit of extra cinnamon on top for that final touch.

Notes

  1. Adjust Sweetness: Everyone's taste buds are different. Start small with sweetening and adjust to your liking.
  2. Spice Variations: Feel free to experiment with different spices! Nutmeg or cloves can give a unique flavor.
  3. Make It Ahead: This milk can be made in larger batches and stored. Just reheat slowly before serving.
  4. Whip It Up Cold: If it’s warm outside, mix it up in the blender with ice for a refreshing cold drink.
  5. 5. Top It Off: Consider garnishing with whipped coconut cream or a sprinkle of cacao for a dessert-like indulgence.
